Just a quickie update!

  • Nov. 11th, 2008 at 9:35 AM

I've been working on getting everyone's orders out, but I want to double check and make sure every thing has been sent (this is specifically my sweets jewelry orders, I am positive I have a handle on my current clothing commissions)

Any way, if you have a sweets order with me and have not yet received it, please send me a message and I will double check to be sure it was shipped out.

Sorry for the confusion, I am just trying to make sure everyone gets what they have paid for! I think I need to make up an order form of some sort, so that this is easier for me to keep track of in the future!

Stupid machine! ARGH!

  • Sep. 5th, 2008 at 12:18 AM

I am still struggling with my new machine....and my serger is still broken. The guy from the machine shop came out and worked on my sewing machine, but as it turns out, nothing has changed. I just had three needles in a row break, because the needle still strikes the bobbin case, since the timing is off. The last needle that broke tore a hole in the skirt I was sewing and threw a shard at my eye (again, on both of those) and I think I have had it. It took months for them to get the machine in. They didn't help me get it set up (which it was supose to have been assembled) and now it has taken months to get any service on it. I have pretty much had it. I want it working, and I want it working now, or I want my money back and this POS out of my work room.

I have no idea how to fix the timing, it can't back stitch (as it should be able to...instead that breaks a needle every time I try it), and the bobbin case doesn't seat right, so it rattle around at a high speed (which surely is part of why the needle strikes it). I am afraid it will end up seriously injuring my eye, and it has already torn multiple pieces of my work. I know industrial machines take some breaking in to run smoothly, but this is beyond that. It needs to *run* in order to be run enough to break it in.

Needless to say, I am really, super PO'ed right now. I just feel like I was sold inferior equipment, and that the customer service I have received has been sub-par. I am behind because neither my serger or sewing machine are working, so I am having to make due with my old machine which is pretty worn out, and borrowing my mom's serger (which gets on her nerves because I sew on much thicker fabrics than her.)

I feel kind of lame about doing another blog rant about this, but I am loosing my mind over this stupid thing!

I though people might be interested in this, it is really simple to make your own cute bag out of a stuffed toy and a few basic sewing notions. I will be cross-posting this to Sew-loli and Lolita crafts, sorry if you get sick of seeing it!

Also, please let me know if anything isn't clear, it is always hard to tell if I am writing good instructions, since I already know what I am doing!

If you haven't set a zipper before, you may want to try this pocket before trying my tutorial: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=22875 so you have a bit of an idea where you are going ;)

Back again!

Wow, I haven't been on here in ages it seems! After SakuraCon I was in a flurry trying to get my machines serviced (my serger is still decommissioned for the time being, though I do have a back up) and I am puzzling through the workings of my new industrial zig-zag (while primarily working on my almost-shot old machine).

I was also busy preparing for my May conventions: KumoriCon Lite in Portland and Fanime down in San Jose! It was crazy trying to prepare for two conventions in one month, as well as working on substitute equipment. Fanime was a blast though. I had also brought along a friend who had me sell some bloomers and blouses she and her mother crafted; I only had one lolita dress to sell myself this time.

Since I've been back, I took a slight respite after storing my convention gear away; and have started gearing up for the re-opening of my web shop! I finally switched to a new web designer, so lets hope it doesn't get endlessly postponed again!

My current projects include a series or scallop hemmed dresses in a lovely striped rose print, which will come in a limited edition of five different colors (pale green, pale yellow, pale blue, cream or pink). I am also building up a stock of lace trimmed petticoats, and bloomers. I am in love with the black eyelet ones as well as the white ones with sheer burnout bubbles...so pretty and soft! I am excited to see them all finished!
